A 'last gasp' before the winter frosts arrive, Sunday's early, bright promise failing to make it to the end of the day, a sharp-toothed wind ushering in a dense drizzle and early twilight.......a few forlorn grapes the harvesters overlooked - the odd block left to rot gently under plastic sheets for the half-bottled sweet stuff - a stray vine leaf, or two, still hanging on.......the firewood chopped and neatly stacked......
